Miazma Rides to London Online

Globus Wines, maker of Miazma Fine Wines seems to have stolen a march over other Indian producers by taking its mascot elephant to London and going online for the UK customers with a reach throughout the UK market.

Claiming them to be India’s most expensive wines, Founder Karan Jain who believes in quality in small numbers says, ‘Owing to the limited produce in order to ensure high quality, controlled distribution is an important aspect for Miazma, Fine Wine of India.

Justifying the decision to go online, Jain added, ‘While we continue to build our presence slowly with top end Indian eateries, we were missing on a  platform that has become such an integral part in U.K for customers wishing to drink Indian wine in the comfort of their homes. This avenue allows us to do that.’

He further reiterated that the big stores like Tesco, Majestic or Waitrose did not even have the category of Indian wines. So it was important to service the customers, especially the English clients who want to try and taste Indian wines to get an opportunity to do so. Obviously, he wanted to be the first one from Indian wine producing fraternity to go online, he says with a smile.

At £15 a bottle for regular bottle and £17 for the Miazma Reserve- isn’t it expensive wine, DelWine asked him. His logic that Indian wines are available only at the restaurants and pubs for more than £22-25 may not hold water except that the prices match his prices in India - Rs.1200 and Rs.1500 respectively with VAT of 20% which is waived off in case of exports. Other positive according to him is that wines are shipped free anywhere in UK.

Also inbuilt in his strategy is to offer a mixed case called ‘Elephant Selection’ which would be literally a mixed bag and instead of the otherwise£ 92 a case of 6 it would be available for a discounted price of £79.

Although he has gone online for direct sales as Jain wants to take the Indian wine experience direct to consumers, he also plans to create awareness through brand placements and conducting tastings across the market.

All wines will are being sold through U.K subsidiary Globus Wines U.K Ltd to ensure taking care of international laws, returns, refunds, shipping etc. Orders are processed and delivered in 3-4 days time.

Globus Wines was set up in 2004.  The company claims it has production facilities as well as collaborative setups in India & France and an office in UK & India to ensure a global reach.
